With just two weeks to go until the kid’s break up for the October half term, it is a great time to prepare. If your one of the lucky ones heading off to warmer climates then you do not have to worry about keeping your kids occupied, but for the rest of us, it is probably a good idea to stock up on toys, crafts for kids and plenty of snacks for those rainy autumnal days.
Fortunately, there is an excellent variety of crafts for kids available, and they are relatively inexpensive when you compare them to DVD’s, computer games and board games.
Painting, sewing, colouring-in and clay model building are all great crafts for kids, and they encourage creativity and imagination. Perfect for a rainy afternoon, a painting set will occupy your children for hours and they have something to show for it at the end of the day.
A great example would be one of the Finger Painting kits by Djeco. Suitable for kids aged 3 years + these great painting workshops come complete with eight large card sheets and eight brightly coloured paints that your children then paint with their fingers.
Messy – yes, but a whole lot of fun and the paints are washable so you do not have to cover your entire dining table with newspaper! Kids of all ages enjoy finger painting, and the completed pictures look good enough to hang on their bedroom walls.
Painting by numbers is another popular crafts for kids that appeals to older children as well as the younger ones. A set of paints and a numbered card is all you need to get started, and the result is an impressive picture that you child will proudly display on the wall.
So get creative, messy and a little bit ‘crafty’ this half term and have a whole lot of fun with your kids.
