Calafant was created by a busy father of two Boris Schimanski, a well-known cartoonist in Germany. His intention was to create something that would occupy his children as he worked on his latest project and so he drew a castle onto cardboard, punched out the pieces and his children then set to work building and painting the castle. A huge success, his children and their friends loved the castle and the idea of Calafant was born.
