Reading the Daily Mail this morning, I came across an incredible article about a Danish group called Monstrum. They make the most wonderful children’s playgrounds that I’ve ever see, and they’re installed all over Denmark and Sweden. One playground sees kids playing on and inside a blue whale, while another is on a housing estate and features ‘melted’ copies of the estate’s homes. They tailor parts of each playground to different age groups, depending on what sort of activities those children like best. The playgrounds still have traditional toys like climbing frames, swings, slides and roundabouts, but they’re incorporated into ancient Chinese towers, rockets and gigantic spiders. They really do look incredible, and I’d love to see them brought to the UK. The best part of Monstrums designs is that they really ‘tap into’ what kids really enjoy, and what stimulates their imaginations. This is something that we really try to emulate at Bird Kids, and what we look for when we’re choosing what children’s clothes, toys, games and art & craft supplies to stock in our shop and online. The links below will take you to the Daily Mail article, as well as Monstrum’s own website. Have a read, and let us know what you think of these great playgrounds. You can leave us a comment below, or through Facebook or Twitter. We’d love to hear what you think; would your kids love to play in one, and do you think they could ever be brought to the UK?
