More activities for a rainy day!

Our regular readers may remember that last week, I suggested some fun activities that will help to alleviate the boredom over the summer holidays, when it’s too rainy to head outside. If you haven’t had a chance to read it yet, it’s still available and has some really great ideas. Today, I’m going to share a few more, just in case this miserable weather never decides to shift! Where are we going? This is a really fun game which encourages children to use their imaginations. Give each child a bag or a rucksack and tell them to think of a holiday (For example; going on safari, to the beach, skiing). Then, let them go and pack their bag with clothes and items that they would need for that holiday. Once they’ve done that, the whole family can join in with guessing where that bag is for. Start a home cinema. This is perfect if you want to take things easy for an hour. Firstly, choose a family-friendly film and then set a “start time”. Make tickets and posters for the film, then as the chosen start time approaches, sell tickets to each member of the family. Have one child collect these tickets as the film is due to start, then another “selling” popcorn and ice cream. Keep a holiday diary. Buy a simple book for each child; one with a plain cover and pages is ideal. Get them to decorate the cover with whatever they choose (newspaper and magazine clippings are a great idea), then they can fill in a page each day with pictures, writing and anything you can think of that reminds them of their day. The great thing about this idea is that it can be done if the weather is good and you go somewhere fun for the day. Hopefully these ideas will keep your little ones entertained and you from going crazy this summer! Although, with that said, I heard this morning that apparently the weather is about to take a turn for the better! Let’s all keep our fingers crossed, eh?
